Nel maggio 1989, e con la cooperazione del gruppo speleologico cecoslovacco ORCUS, il GSSG ha organizzato e portato a termine una spedizione il cui obiettivo era l’esplorazione delle più importanti grotte della Crimea.
L’approntamento della spedizione richiese 3 mesi di preparazione ed il superamento delle molte difficoltà sorte in merito ai permessi di ingresso nell’allora URSS.
L’accoglienza ricevuta al nostro arrivo fu quanto mai cordiale e sicuramente superiore alle nostre previsioni. Nei colloqui che seguirono furono gettate le basi per una futura collaborazione, collaborazione che si sviluppò – e continua a svilupparsi – con spedizioni nel nostro Paese da parte di soci dell’ORCUS.
La spedizione raggiunse tutti gli obiettivi che ci eravamo prefissati e cioè l’esplorazione di alcune delle più grandi e significative grotte della zona, l’osservazione dei fenomeni naturali ed il confronto tra i due differenti metodi di progressione. Furono inoltre raccolte informazioni sulla struttura fisica del terreno, sul sistema fluviale sotterraneo e su tutti quei fenomeni caratteristici della regione che la rendono molto simile al carso mediterraneo.
Siamo dell’opinione che la spedizione è stata una buona esperienza, ricca di fatti concreti che hanno dato e daranno impulso a contatti con i nostri amici ucraini.

Under the date of May 1989, and with the cooperation of the czecoslovakian speleological circla ORCUS, our association organized and ended an expedition with the view to explore somo of the more important caves of the Crimean tableland.
The get ready of the expedition required three months of preparation and the overcome of many difficulties about our admittance in the ex USSR.
The welcome our team received on the arrival in Crimea was warm-hearted and during the following conversation it was paved the way for future cooperation, cooperation that developed and continue developing with expeditions in Italy of ORCUS’s members.
The expedition attained all the purposes the team had in mind to perform, namely exploration of the greater caves of the zone, observation of the natural phenomena and comparison petween the different advancing methods underground. Moreover has been gathered informations on the physical structure of the territory, on the subterranean fluvial system and about all those phenomena that characterizes the region which is very alike the Mediterranean Karst.
In conclusion we are of the opinion that the expedition has been a very good experience, full of real facts which had and will promote future contacts with the Ucranian.
